They learned how to recognize and respond to life-threatening bleeding using direct pressure, wound packing, and tourniquets — so they’re ready to act quickly in critical situations. 💪

🎉 A NEW CHAPTER BEGINS: We’re proud to share that our Assistant Superintendent, Dr. Greg Milbrand, has been officially appointed as the next Superintendent of Schools for the Lower Dauphin School District, with board action taken this past Monday evening.

Over the past six years, Dr. Milbrand has made a meaningful and lasting impact on the CV community through his steady leadership, student-centered focus, and unwavering support of our staff and families. His dedication and vision have shaped a brighter future for our district.

He will officially transition to Lower Dauphin in August. As he begins this next chapter, we extend our heartfelt thanks and best wishes. Please join us in celebrating all that Dr. Milbrand has contributed to CV.

🧗‍♂️ RISING TO NEW HEIGHTS: This past spring, Aboody, a kindergartener at Sporting Hill Elementary, climbed to new heights — literally! Using an adaptive climbing system provided by Mike Decavalcante and Above Limits Organization, he reached 50 feet during Mr. Rupp's PE class, right alongside his peers.

With a huge smile and tons of heart, Aboody reminded us that with the right support, everybody can climb. 🫶💪

🎻 A BOW-TIFUL COLLABORATION: Mrs. Hoertz’s Technical CAD class at CVHS teamed up with Sophia, an aspiring cellist from Hampden Elementary, to design and 3D-print a custom assistive device so she can continue doing what she loves—playing the cello. Students invited Sophia for multiple fittings, making thoughtful tweaks along the way. At the final fitting, captured by abc27 News, she was able to play independently with her new device! 🧪 A FORMULA TO VICTORY: On Saturday, April 26, our Science Olympiad teams competed at the PA State Tournament at Penn State Altoona—and brought home some amazing results! CVHS placed 2nd out of 36 teams, earning a trip to Nationals at the University of Nebraska on May 24! This is CV’s 3rd national qualification in 4 years! EV placed 3rd out of 36 and took home 1st place in FIVE events—a new school record! MV delivered a strong showing as well, finishing 8th overall. 🗺️ MAPPING THEIR WAY: Earlier this year, students Maximus Knickerbocker, Aaron Widjaja, Sricharan Addagatla, and Prisha Kanikaram were named winners of the 2024 Congressional App Challenge for PA’s 10th District—our 8th straight win! 🏆 (Pictured left to right with Rep. Scott Perry at center) Their award-winning app, Map Eye, helps students and visitors navigate CVHS with real-time indoor directions.📱 This spring, they headed to Washington, D.C. for the national #HouseOfCode event—showcasing their app to Congress, connecting with peers nationwide, touring the Capitol building, and even having a private meeting with Rep.
