We are pleased to share that, at last night’s meeting of the Board of School Directors, Dr. Chad Runkle was appointed as the new Assistant Superintendent of Elementary Education for Cumberland Valley School District.
Dr. Runkle has served Cumberland Valley since 2003 and has been a building principal since 2008, leading four of the district’s eight elementary schools: Green Ridge, Hampden, Sporting Hill, and, most recently, Winding Creek Elementary. He played a critical role in the successful opening of Winding Creek, working closely with district leaders, staff, and the community to build a strong foundation for students and families.
He began his career as a third-grade teacher in the Shippensburg Area School District and later taught fourth and fifth grade at Middlesex Elementary before moving into school leadership. Dr. Runkle holds a bachelor’s degree in Elementary Education and a master’s degree in Educational Leadership, both from Shippensburg University, along with his administrative certificate. He also earned his doctorate and Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility through a joint cohort program between Millersville University and Shippensburg University.
Throughout his career, Dr. Runkle has consistently shown a strong commitment to student success, teacher development, and collaborative leadership. He brings this same dedication and vision to his new role, where he will continue to advance Cumberland Valley’s tradition of excellence and lead the district’s elementary education program with a focus on innovation, collaboration, and student growth.
Please join us in congratulating Dr. Runkle on his new role.
We also extend our gratitude to Dr. Milbrand for his many years of dedicated service to our students, staff, and families. We wish him continued success in his new role.
