The Indiana Hoosiers shocked the college football world on Monday night by completing a perfect 16-0 season and winning their first College Football Playoff National Championship with a 27-21 victory over Miami.

The 25’-26’ season will go down as the most unforgettable year in Indiana football history. Week after week they played disciplined football, winning close games and silencing doubters. No one on the team ever seemed satisfied with simply being good, they were driven by a hunger to be great.

Head Coach Curt Cignetti changed the culture of the program, turning a longtime underdog into a serious contender. Behind Heisman Trophy–winning quarterback Fernando Mendoza, Indiana’s offense was explosive, while the defense stayed sharp and physical.

Junior at CV Logan Smith, “I was so thrilled to see Indiana football have such a successful year. I grew up watching Indiana be so bad year after year. To see them win the National Championship was a childhood dream of mine that had come true.”

What began as a hopeful year became a historic run, as Indiana went from overlooked to national  champions.

“I think it is safe to say Monday night was one of the best nights of my life.”
