Ogbonnaya Ekezie, the prospective senior valedictorian, knows how tough it is to balance difficult classes and his social life.
He manages his time by making sure to prioritize and mentally plan out his day.
“I always make sure I have my activities for the day at least mentally mapped out so I can fit in all my responsibilities and free time,” Ekezie said. Having a clear plan helps him stay organized and still allows time to relax and hang out with friends.
But one of the hardest parts of balancing school and social life is missing out on some events. “It’s really hard to say no sometimes, especially when I want to hang out. But if I don’t, I won’t have enough time to finish my assignments,” Ekezie said. Because of this, he’s learned to skip smaller, spontaneous plans when necessary.
Even though it’s challenging, Ogbonnaya believes that finding a balance is the key to doing well in school and staying healthy mentally. His experience shows that with good planning and making tough choices, it’s possible to succeed academically and still have a social life. In the end, it’s all about knowing your limits, setting priorities, and staying focused on your goals.
