Green Ridge Kindergarten (2024-25 and 2025-26)
The information below was shared with incoming Green Ridge Elementary School kindergarten families on June 4, 2024.
This email is being sent to you because records indicate that you have started the process of registering a student to attend kindergarten at Green Ridge Elementary School.
Dear incoming Green Ridge kindergarten families,
We are excited to welcome you to Cumberland Valley School District, and we hope that your incoming kindergartener is equally as excited to begin their educational journey with us.
We are writing to you today to share some news that we understand might be met with some hesitation. As you may be aware, Green Ridge Elementary School will undergo construction beginning this summer, which will help to meet both the growing enrollment needs across the district and enhance the learning environment for our Gators. You may click here to view a newsletter that outlines our plans and shares artist renderings of the finished building project.
While this is an important project that will meet our growth needs, it does come with some temporary adjustments. Because of this renovation and the complexity surrounding the necessary phasing to complete the project, we have made the decision to relocate Green Ridge’s kindergarten classrooms to Shaull Elementary School for the 2024-25 and 2025-26 school years. These students will attend Shaull as kindergarteners and move to Green Ridge beginning in first grade. This move is essential to ensure the safety and well-being of our students and staff during the construction process.
In addition, all incoming kindergartners who reside in the Green Ridge attendance boundaries will be rostered to AM kindergarten during the 2024-25 school year.
We understand that changes like this can raise questions and concerns, but we are committed to minimizing disruptions to your child's education. Our dedicated teams at both Green Ridge and Shaull will work in partnership to ensure a smooth transition for all kindergarten students.
We understand and appreciate that you likely have many questions. While we do not yet have all of the answers, you may click here to view a list of Frequently Asked Questions. We will update this throughout the summer as needed. Additionally, here are some key points to note about the relocation:
Teachers and Classrooms: Our current kindergarten teachers at Green Ridge will temporarily relocate with incoming Green Ridge kindergarten students to Shaull. Green Ridge students will remain in class with their building peers.
Transportation: We are working closely with the transportation department to develop the most efficient routes possible. Over the summer, you will receive detailed information about bus routes and schedules.
Communication: We are committed to keeping you informed. If you have any questions or concerns about the relocation process, please do not hesitate to reach out to us. Shaull’s principal, Mr. Rich Tysarczyk, is available to talk through any building, classroom, and daily operational concerns. Dr. Greg Milbrand, Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education, is your contact for district-level questions about the temporary transition.
Updates: As the construction progresses, we will provide regular updates regarding the timeline and any further developments that may affect our kindergarten students.
We understand that change can be challenging, but we believe that this temporary relocation will ultimately benefit our school community in the long run. Thank you for your understanding and cooperation as we work together to ensure the continued success and safety of all of our students.
Sincerely,
Gregory Milbrand, Ed.D.
Assistant Superintendent for Elementary Education
