Damage and Insurance

Damage and Insurance

The District owns and values each device and requires students to follow usage guidelines and to use caution handling the device. The District devices do have a manufacturer warranty to cover any manufacturer defects or malfunctions. Students and families will be responsible for the full cost of any loss or damage to their device, unless you purchase insurance (see insurance section below). The most common types of damage are cracked screens, broken cases, broken keyboards and damaged connectors. The table below identifies the full replacement cost of these common damages.

Annual Insurance

Annual insurance from the District is highly recommended, but not mandatory, and is available at a cost of $25 per student per year, with a family cap of $75 per year. The year consists of the first day of school until the following years first day of school. Families qualifying for Economic Hardship (free and reduced lunch, homeless, etc.) will receive insurance free of charge. The district insurance will cover two incidences of damage and one loss of the power adapter per year. The third incident of damage or second loss of power adapter will result in a full repair or replacement cost.

Enrollment into the device insurance program will be available until the end of the 1st marking period (November 4th). If you are not enrolled in the program by then any damage to the device will have to be paid in full.

Enrollment consists of paying the $25 per student fee.

Payment and Fees

Payment for either device damage or the insurance program can be made electronically via CV's Revtrak software. Revtrak pulls the amounts (fees) owed from Skyward and provides an easy location to add your fees to your cart and pay with a credit card. Because the fee is an optional fee that parents choose, parents must go into Skyward and add the fee for each individual student before they go to Revtrak and make payment. The fees due and the payments made will be reconciled and tracked through the Skyward Fees and Fee Payment Tiles in Skyward.

Step by Step instructions on how to pay can be viewed in the video below.
