We Miss You!
Wow! Can you believe we only have one more week of summer? Every staff member is so excited for the first day of school. Keep reading for updates and upcoming events.
Setting The Stage For Success
Last year, in October, our fourth graders voted for the theme they wanted this year. They choose a Hollywood/Movie theme with the motto: Setting the Stage For Success!
Night, Night!
This is the week to change your child's sleep patterns in order to help make their transition back to school more positive. Research shows that the more sleepy our children are when they are in school, the more likely they are to suffer negative impacts on behavior, memory, learning, and school performance.
Here are some ideas on how to adjust bedtime:

1. Learn how many hours of sleep your child needs get each night (see below).
- 2. Change to an earlier bedtime gradually (use this week to move the time up 15 minutes each night).
- 3. Create a quiet, technology free bedtime routine. Yes...technology-free!! No video games, TV, You-tube, smartphones, etc.
- 4. Create a wake-up plan.
- 5. Be patient. This isn't an easy process, but it is so important for your child!
School Supplies
The Cumberland Valley School District will provide all needed elementary classroom and student supplies for the new school year. We encourage elementary students to bring a backpack to school and bring in earbuds/headphones for their personal use as part of our classroom instruction.
Skyward (AKA - Contact and other Important Information)
It is so important that you log into Skyward and update/add your contact information. We want to be able to get in touch with you throughout the day. Thank you for taking the time to log in and update your contact information!

Bus Route Information
Bus route information for the 2019-20 school year is now available through Infofinderi. Please visit our website at www.cvschools.org/transportation for more information. Parents/guardians are encouraged to check Infofinderi periodically between now and the start of school as pickup and drop off times may be slightly altered due to daily enrollment changes. Kindergarten/mid-day bus stop assignments are being updated daily and will also be available at Kindergarten Open House.
Schedule of Events
August 14 - PTO Meeting; 6:00 pm (come at 5:00 pm if you can help fill folders)
August 15 - Meet the Teacher, 3:00 - 4:00 pm; Come see your classroom and meet your teacher!
August 15 - Kindergarten Orientation, 5:00 - 6:15 pm
August 15 - New Families Orientation to Sporting Hill; 6:45 pm - 7:30 pm
August 19 - 1st Day of School!!
August 22 - Back to School Night, 6:00 pm; Kindergarten Families do not need to attend
