From the Superintendent: Severe weather statement

Dear Cumberland Valley families:

As you may be aware, weather forecasts indicate that our region could potentially experience severe thunderstorms throughout the afternoon hours today. Timing of the storms varies by news/weather outlet.

We are writing to assure you that District administration monitors forecasts all year long and will take appropriate actions as necessary. Such actions during severe thunderstorms might include moving recess indoors, temporarily delaying end-of-day dismissal, and/or directing any buses that have departed our buildings to pull off at a safe location until a storm passes. In addition, our students and staff practice severe weather exercises annually and are aware of protocols should severe weather hit during school hours and necessitate a move to interior hallways.

Should afternoon dismissal be accelerated or delayed districtwide due to imminent severe weather, we will notify parents/guardians through our normal procedures.

Please remain assured that today and always, safety of our students, staff, and visitors is of paramount priority. Should you have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to reach out to your child’s building principal.

Thank you.
