Welcome Back to Silver Spring!

We hope everyone had a fun and relaxing summer!  The first day of school is Monday August 19th! Here are a few reminders:

School Supplies
The Cumberland Valley School District will provide all needed elementary classroom and student supplies for the new school year.  We encourage elementary students to bring a backpack to school and bring in earbuds/headphones for their personal use as part of our classroom instruction.  

Skyward
As you log into Skyward for information on your child's teacher please remember that it is very important that you update phone numbers and email addresses and provide us with emergency contacts.  This system is vital in our efforts to reach you in the event of an emergency.  

You should have received an individualized email with your unique login credentials.  If you didn't receive the email or need help signing on, please contact the Help Desk at [email protected] or 717-506-3393.

Kindergarten and New Family Open House
The Silver Spring Kindergarten and New Family Open House is scheduled for Thursday, August 15th: AM Kindergarten at 5:00pm, PM Kindergarten at 6:15, and New Families at 7:30pm.  Join us with your students for an informational session about Silver Spring, meet teachers and classmates, tour the school, and Kindergartners can ride a school bus!

Open House for All Families and PTO Mingle

The Silver Spring Open House for All Families is scheduled for Thursday, August 15th from 3:00-4:00pm. All students and families will have the opportunity to find their classrooms, meet their teachers, and find their seat in the classroom.  Please note that teachers will not be preparing formal addresses to parents on this afternoon, however, we do invite you back to our Back to School Night on Thursday, August 22nd where teachers will be sharing more about their classrooms and expectations. 

Back-to-School Night
The Silver Spring Back-to-School Night is scheduled for Thursday, August 22nd: There will be a principal address and teacher introductions at 6:00 pm in the MPR followed by two teacher sessions at 6:30 and 7:10 in the teachers' classrooms.  This is a Parent/Guardian only event - due to space limitations we ask that your children not attend.

Bus Route Information

Bus route information for the 2019-20 school year is now available through Infofinder. Please visit our website at www.cvschools.org/transportation for more information. Parents/guardians are encouraged to check Infofinder periodically between now and the start of school as pickup and drop off times may be slightly altered due to daily enrollment changes. Kindergarten/mid-day bus stop assignments are being updated daily.

Classroom Parties / Treats
According to the Cumberland Valley School Wellness Policy, classroom parties / celebrations with food and beverages shall be limited to no more than one (1) per month in each classroom. Foods and beverages should only be brought in when requested for scheduled parties. Classroom parties shall offer a minimal amount of foods (maximum 2-3 items) containing added sugar as the primary ingredient (e.g. cupcakes, cookies) and will provide the following:
1) Fresh fruits/vegetables; and
2) Water, 100 percent juice, 100 percent juice with diluted water, low-fat milk or nonfat milk
3) Consideration should be given for gluten free and nut free snacks
