Appropriate use of Devices by students
Published on Mar 20, 2019 16:31

Good Hope Parents,

Lately, we have noticed students using their personal devices for non-instructional activities during the school day. Please help us by discussing with your student the appropriate educational use of their device while at school. Our expectation with our Bring Your Own Device policy is that students may only use their device for educational/instructional purposes under the direction and with the permission of their teacher(s). Therefore, they should not be using social media, playing video games, etc during the school day - to include in Homeroom, SOAR, Flex, Hallways, Lockers, In between classes, Restrooms, Locker Rooms, and for sure not during classes. If you have sent them a message they need to see prior to leaving school they will have time to do so before or after school starts or you may call the school so we can share the message with them. We have discussed this with our staff and moving forward students not using their device appropriately will have their device confiscated for the day and receive disciplinary consequences as set forth by our policy. This is already and has been happening per our district guidelines, but we are going to reinforce the message with students tomorrow during Home room.

Thank you for your support in discussing appropriate use of their personal device, as well as school devices, while at school.
