Sporting Hill:  Learning to BE a better version of ME!

Give Your Time to Others

Join Mrs. Shaddock and the Sporting Hill PTO as we give back to the community! On November 17th from 8 am to 11:30 am, we will be at Project Share in Carlisle to help distribute food and other items to those in need.  Project Share has all the items that we will be distributing, they just need people to help with the process.  What a great opportunity for our students as we are Learning to BE a better version of ME!

You MUST register by Wednesday, November 8th at https://www.timetosignup.com/sphpto/. Hurry, space is limited!! Contact us with any questions at [email protected].

Children's Grief Awareness Day - 11/15/2018

Please join us for Children's Grief Awareness Day by wearing blue on Thursday, November 15th.  Children's Grief Awareness Day is a day focused on bringing to mind the children all around us who have experienced the death of a loved one - children who typically feel very alone in the journey of grief they travel.  It is also an opportunity to let grieving children know that they're not forgotten in the midst of their grief.

Many people don't realize that it takes most children much longer to deal with their grief and that the amount of inner turmoil, invisible to most, is much more intense.

We raise awareness so that people will realize that even if there is no outward sign of inner turmoil, those storms can still be inside a grieving child's heart.  We also raise awareness so that people will understand that a grieving child can't just "get over it" - not in any set time period - not by any act of their own will.

Parent Teacher Conferences

No need to
hire a babysitter, we will be offering childcare during Parent Teacher Conferences from 4 pm - 8 pm on November 19th!

Inclement Weather

Please remember to discuss inclement weather plans with your child/children so they know where they should go if school should dismiss early.  The YMCA program, for those that attend, is not available during an early dismissal.  Children who attend the YMCA program will be sent home on their "home" bus unless directed otherwise.

District Inclement Weather Policy

When bad weather conditions develop during the night, the Superintendent will assume the responsibility for making the decision as to whether schools will open at the regular time, open with a delay, or be closed.  Announcements will be made via the District's telephone alert system and through the District's website:  www.cvschools.org, beginning at 6:00 am.  The announcements may also be made over select local television stations.  Should inclement weather make it necessary to close early during the school day, announcements will be made via the same outlets.

The policy of the District is to keep schools open, if reasonably possible, and thereby continue to follow the established school calendar for the school term.  On the morning of a delayed opening, parents are requested not to bring children to school prior to the announced time.  In the case of early dismissal, be sure children have a procedure to follow.

Colder Weather

Please remember to dress your child/children appropriately for the fall/winter months.  The temperature will be getting colder and students will continue to be going outside for recess when the weather permits (wind chill above 17).

If your child needs a winter coat, we can help!  Please email Mr. Connell, our school counselor, and he will get your child fitted with a new coat. [email protected].

Finally, please write your child's name in their coats.  Last year we had a lot of unclaimed coats at the end of the year.
