Have a Great Weekend, Hampden!

RED RIBBON WEEK
Hampden is once again participating in the annual National Red Ribbon Campaign to help provide drug awareness. Since its beginning in 1985, the Red Ribbon has touched the lives of millions of people around the world.  Today, the Red Ribbon serves as a catalyst to mobilize communities to educate youth and encourage participation in drug prevention activities.  We are encouraging our Hampden students to participate in Red Ribbon Week in some fun ways (see below).  Together we can SAY NO!

VETERANS DAY ASSEMBLY
We are excited to announce that we will be having an all-school assembly this year to celebrate Veterans Day on Monday, November 12, 2018. We know that there are many families in our school who have someone who either has served, or is currently serving in our military.  If you have immediate family who have served or are serving now, we invite one veteran representative from your family and one guest (due to limited space and parking) to attend our program on November 12th at 10:00 am. If you or a family member are planning to attend, please RSVP by Friday, November 2.  To RSVP and for more information, click hereTo all of our Hampden veterans, we are thankful for your service to us, and hope that you will be able to join us for this event.

HAMPDEN BIRTHDAY TREAT GUIDELINES
Non-food items are a great choice for birthday celebrations.  Stickers, book markers, erasers, or pencils are fun, non-sticky, and they include everybody, especially classmates who have food allergies or other health conditions.  In order to assure the safety of all of our students and to comply with District guidelines, we ask that Hampden parents/guardians observe the following when sending in food-item treats for our classroom celebrations:

* Please send in store-bought goods so that labels can be referenced for allergy and nutritional information.
* Mini cupcakes or mini muffins are ideal rather than full-size baked goods.
* Individually wrapped snacks such as pretzels, chips, popcorn, rice crispy treats, granola bars, Italian ice cups, and popsicles are preferred.

CUMBERLAND VALLEY SCHOOL DISTRICT IS SEEKING SUBSTITUTES!
It's never too late to sign up to be a substitute with Cumberland Valley School District! Our substitutes play a vital role in the success of our buildings. We are currently recruiting for both support staff and professional staff substitutes! Substitutes have the flexibility to make their own schedules.  If you'd like to be a part of our success, consider filling out an application which can be found on our website at http://www.cvschools.org/support_operations/human_resources/job_opportunities, or contact Kristina Lotwick in our Human Resources Department at [email protected]!
