Dear Hampden parents,

We are writing to make you aware of a situation that occurred this morning along land that is in the area of the school buildings. At approximately 8:30 a.m., an unusual sound was reported in the area of the hollow along the creek that runs near the school buildings. In an effort to ensure security of our students, law enforcement was notified and arrived within minutes, and quickly confirmed the sound came from hunters who are on private land in the area.

Please remain assured that at no time were students in danger. Law enforcement indicated no need for a lock down as students, staff, and visitors were not in any imminent danger.

While this event occurred without notice from the majority of individuals in the area, we are sharing so that you are aware.
