Cumberland Valley to take on State High in historic football game in Beaver Stadium

(9/25/19) – Fall Saturdays at Beaver Stadium are typically reserved for the Blue and White. But that will change on October 26, 2019, when Cumberland Valley High School will take on State High in a Mid Penn Conference game at Penn State University’s Beaver Stadium.

The game will mark the first time both State High and CV have played on the Nittany Lion’s turf.

“Our team is both grateful and excited for the opportunity that Penn State has given us and State High to play our game in Beaver Stadium,” said CV’s Head Football Coach, Michael Whitehead. “CVHS alumni have a rich tradition of attending Penn State as students and student-athletes, making this an even more exciting opportunity for our community.”

Cumberland Valley Athletic Director Michael Craig added that he would love to see the stands filled with students, staff, residence of the greater-CV community, and CV’s alumni who attend Penn State.

“This is a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for our kids. Very few athletes get to walk out of the tunnel at Beaver Stadium and I have no doubt that this means the world to our students,” Craig said. “I hope to see Beaver stadium filled with Eagles supporters who are proudly wearing their CV red.”

Wide receiver and defensive back Logan Ramper, a senior CV player, agreed with Craig, saying that he is hopeful to see CV fans – donning their red, of course – make the trip to support the team. He added, “We need to treat this game like any other game, but it’s definitely going to be a great experience to play in a Big 10 stadium. I am definitely excited.”

Kickoff will be at either Noon or 5 p.m., with the official time being announced next month. Game time depends on the start of Penn State’s game at Michigan State, which has not yet been determined. As per NCAA regulations, neither CV nor State High will receive financial compensation, nor be able to collect any revenues.

Tickets are $10 each and will be available from the Cumberland Valley High School Athletic Office and at Penn State’s Bryce Jordan Center. More information will be shared in the coming days via CV e-news and our website regarding ticket sales and parking. Please note that no school or conference admission passes will be accepted for this game.

Let’s go, Eagles!
