 Head Coach:  Michael Hibbs

Assistant:  Eric Richardson

Coach Hibbs

Mike is in his third year as the head coach of the Cumberland Valley Varsity Boys Basketball team.  Prior to coming to CV he headed a very successful program at Good Counsel High School from the Washington Catholic Athletic Conference (WCAC), arguably one of the best high school basketball conferences in the nation, heralding such national powers as DeMatha, Gonzaga, and O’Connell high schools.  While at GC he turned around a program that had won only sparingly in the previous five years, receiving Coach of the Year honors in the process.  In only three years he was able to challenge the upper tier of the league, leading his teams to 40 wins in his final two years there, while beating DeMatha both of those years on their home court, the first time GC had done so in their history.

Before taking over at GC, Coach Hibbs brought national, regional, and local recognition to a perennially losing program at The Bullis School in Potomac, MD.  There his teams captured six league titles, and he was named Coach of the Year eight times in his 12-year stay.  He began his coaching career at his alma mater, DeMatha Catholic High School, coaching under legendary Hall of Fame coach, Morgan Wootten.  He has been running very successful summer camps and coaching clinics for the past 20 years and is recognized as one of the top clinicians in the area.  He has also been teaching high school English for the past 25 years, earning Teacher of the Year honors four different times.

Coach Hibbs was named to the Bullis School Athletic Hall of Fame as a Coach and a Teacher in 2011.
