Keeping parents informed and involved helps to assure student safety and improve student success. Therefore, CV School District utilizes multiple tools to communicate building and district emergencies, delays, and cancellations. The most up-to-date information can be found on our Web site; however, the following tools may also be utilized:

Visit to register to receive email alerts. CV E-news messages will be sent to communicate building and district news, emergencies, and weather delays/closures. You may subscribe, edit your subscriptions, or unsubscribe at any time by visiting the link above.

Telephone Alerts (School Messenger)
School Messenger is an essential tool for notification and communication. Within minutes of an emergency, school officials can use School Messenger to deliver a single, clear message to parents or guardians by telephone. School Messenger can also be used to notify you of school closings or delays due to inclement weather. Information will continue to be communicated through our district web page (, CV E-News, and local radio/television stations.

Phone numbers used by School Messenger for non-life threatening situations that require prompt notification (i.e., weather, broken water pipes, no power): Student’s home phone number and cell phone number of contact number one, depending on the time of the call. 

  • Student's home number will be called for two-hour delays and closures announced prior to 8 a.m. 
  • Student's home number will be called for two-hour delays and closures announced in the evening.
  • Student's home number and cell, work, and home number of emergency contact one will be called for closures/early dismissals announced after 8 a.m.

Phone numbers used by School Messenger for EMERGENCIES (life-threatening situations):  

  • All phone numbers on record for student could be called (i.e. student’s home number, student’s emergency contact number and the work and cell numbers of contact numbers one and two.) Work numbers with extensions cannot be used with an automated system. Be advised that emergency calls intended for parents whose places of employment utilize a receptionist/switchboard operator/automated system may not reach the parent, because the automated message is not personalized with parent’s name.

To change your contact information, you must:

  • Log into your parent protal and make the apprpriate  change.

If there is ever a time in which you do not receive a School Messenger call or other form of notification in which you have registered (text or E-news), but you believe a delay or closure is possible, you should visit our Web site at Information is also sent to selected media outlets (ABC 27, WGAL 8, CBS 21); however, the Web site will contain the most accurate and up-to-date information.
