MIDDLE SCHOOL INSTRUMENTAL MUSIC

Although students at the elementary level learn to play and sing in performing groups, it is the middle school level that performances begin to mold into true ensemble experiences.  Students at both Eagle View and at Good Hope have the opportunity to participate in BANDCHOIR and ORCHESTRA in 6th, 7th and 8th grades.  Rehearsals are scheduled every other day during the same class period, so it is possible for a student to participate in more than one ensemble.

Band, orchestra and choir are curricular classes and grades are awarded based upon the development of musical performance and ensemble skills.  Concerts are performed in December and May and attendance is required.  In addition, students have the opportunity to expand their musical skills by attending small group lessons once per cycle.

As musicianship develops, students also have the opportunity to participate in extra-curricular ensembles, such as jazz band, chamber singers and chamber orchestra.  Auditions are required for some of the ensembles, which is left up to the discretion of the director. Students who participate in small ensembles have additional performance opportunities in school and out in the community.
