Welcome!

Thank you for serving as an Agricuture Advisory Boad Member for Cumberland Valley Agriculture Education and FFA. Not a member? E-mail Darla Romberger ([email protected]) to find out if there are openings available to serve on the committee. Membership and Appointment

You didn't have to wear the "blue jacket" to serve on the Ag Advisory Committee! Whether or not you were an FFA member you can serve the Agriculture Education Department and FFA at Cumberland Valley. In return, you will be a part of a committee that prides itself in helping make Agriculture Education and FFA students' lives better.

Purpose of an Agriculture Advisory Committee

The main purpose of an Agriculture Advisory Committee is to strengthen the Agriculture Education Program and FFA by making recommendations for program improvement and providing technical assistance to assure the most up-to-date curriculum content and appropriate applications of technology.

Agriculture Advisory Committees are a vital link between Agriculture Education and FFA and business and industry. Administrators and the the Agriculture Instructor & FFA Advisor recognize the value of community participation in the discussion of Agriculture Education and FFA issues. Ag Advisory Committees assist in assuring the relevance of the Agriculture Education Program and FFA to the community and increase public awareness of the program. Committee members representing business, industry, labor and general public bring a unique perspective to education and training programs. They provide a viewpoint which is invaluable to the Agriculture Education Program and FFA.

It must be emphasized that Ag Advisory Committees serve in an advisory capacity only. They do not have administrative or governing authority. Nevertheless, their work is important to the effective operation of the Agriculture Education Program and FFA. Programs that have a close association and function in cooperation with an advisory committee are usually more successful than those which do not have such an association.

Specific Charge of the Agriculture Advisory Committee

The Agriculture Advisory Committee at Cumberland Valley shall advise the School Board, Administration and Staff on curriculum, equipment, instructional materials, safety requirements, program evaluation, and other related matters, and to verify that the Agriculture Education Program and FFA is meeting industry standards.
