There are often times the homework assigned is finished in school.  I still require the children to write the assignment in their agenda books and then write the word "done" by it. I encourage the students to take the work home so you can look over it.  If there is an evening when they say they have NO homework, here are a few suggestions to use so they can still work on curriculum activities for their 35 minutes.  ( The time suggested for grade 5 is 50 minutes, but we give them 15 minutes of homework time at the end of each day.)

1. Review notes from classes during the day and organize them.

2. Look ahead to the next chapter or pages you will be using to get some prior knowledge.

3. Read and summarize

4. Look at agenda book for any long term assignments they may have coming up.
