Welcome to Mrs. Schons home page.  I am the Learning Support teacher for grades 1 & 3.  We are fortunate to have  a teacher's aide to assist our students in our classroom.  The majority of our day consists of teaching reading and math using specialized programs such as Reading Mastery, Wilson Fundations, Math Steps, and Touch Math along with the programs that are used in the regular education setting.   We push-in to the regular  education classrooms during LA, writing and math to assist our students in a Least Restrictive Environment.  The programs  used in the regular education class include Month to Month Phonics , Words Their Way, Good Habits Good Readers and 6+1 Traits of Writing, and Math Central.

In our class  we will be using a multisensory approach to learning as we work on our individual goals.   Essentially this means that we not only do paper pencil tasks, but also use many hands on, visual, and auditory activities as well.  By using  the learned  reading strategies and the tools needed to understand and carry out both language arts and math skills the students will meet with success and master their individual goals.
