Mrs. Forney

This is my seventh year of teaching computer classes at Sporting Hill Elementary School.

I received my Bachelor of Science degree in Early Childhood Education from Messiah College and additional certification in Elementary Education, and in Business Education and Technology from Shippensburg University

I have been married for thirty years to my husband, Nathan. I have a son, David, who is a senior at Drexel University, in Philadelphia, and a daughter, Jenna, who is a sophomore at Harrisburg Area Community College. Our family has three cats.

In 2005 Cumberland Valley decided to begin having computer class as a special in the elementary schools.  I really enjoy teaching, as well as working with technology, so I jumped at the opportunity to become a computer teacher.

With computer as a special, the CV school board adopted a computer curriculum for elementary schools.  It is very exciting to be involved in implementing this curriculum and fine tuning it each year.  We have many lessons for grades 1 – 5 that involve the Internet, SMARTboard, Inspiration, Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.  Our goal is to integrate computer lessons whenever possible with lessons that are occurring in the regular classrooms.  By doing this, computer skills can be learned in a meaningful way.  My personal goal is to make my lessons as exciting as possible so my students will have fun while they learn and look forward to computer class.
