About Me

A native of the Shippensburg area, I currently reside in Newburg with my husband Keith, and our two daughters, Lana and Maddy, ages 21 and 16.  In 1983, I earned a Bachelor of Arts in Art, and for several years, I worked as an artist and designer for The Beistle Company, the world's largest paper party goods manufacturer.  Later, I returned to Shippensburg University to complete coursework to obtain my Pennsylvania Certificate to teach art in public schools.  In the summer of 2010, I completed my Masters Degree in Curriculum and Instruction.  Currently, I am pursuing a Masters Degree in Art Education at Messiah College.  When I am not in school, I spend time with my family, my pets, and my own artwork.

My favorite personal art is a contemporary art form referred to as “book art”.  In the creation of a hand-made book, many art media can be employed, as well as written content.  Naturally, I will continue to incorporate book art into my teaching.  My students and I will make many books together over the years.  Books that my own daughters made when they were young children remain as special possessions that have sentimental importance.
