A reading specialist, like a specialized athletic coach, has a goal to help each individual on their team perform at his or her highest level.  A reading specialist capitalizes on a team member's strengths and offers suggestions to improve other areas.  Just as the sport's world is driven by data and statistics to determine the rate of improvement so the literacy world has data and statistics to give feedback.

I love reading and want to share that love with all children.  Great literature can introduce you to friends you haven't yet met, take you to places you've always wanted to visit and let you experience mysteries and thrills at any moment.  I am excited to be a reading specialist and open literacy doors for children.
