Special meeting to discuss budget
Home Page News Only
The Board of School Directors will host a special meeting at 8 a.m. on January 28, 2012, for the purpose of budget discussions. The meeting will be held in the cafeteria at Eagle View Middle School.
Student Playing Assessments (playing tests) for all students grades 6, 7 & 8 will take place during regularly assigned CYCLE 9 lessons (November 4 - 14). Students should be practicing everyday to prepare for this assessment. The test will include material we have been working on since the start of the school year. A study guide can be downloaded on the left or in the grade specific band links.
Don't wait until it's too late! Students sometimes approach me and inform me that they want to drop band because they don't like to practice. Join the club...SmartMusic helps make practicing fun. Do NOT wait until you force yourself to enjoy practicing in seclusion. With SmartMusic you can be practicing scales, lesson books, band literature, movie soundtracks, pop & rock songs, and more with a full band playing along with you. And it shows you where your mistakes were AND how to correct them. You can't beat the $30 for this all-inclusive program. Check out the link on the left for purchasing information.
A Note About Pullout Lessons...From the results of numerous studies, we can conclude that music students do not suffer negative academic effects when compared to students of similar academic capability who remained in the classroom. We can also conclude that overall Proficiency Test performance of students who participate in pull-out lessons is better than the performance of the students of similar ability who do not participate in the pull-out music program. Instrument Repairs/Checkups: Please remember that it is necessary that your instruments be in good playing condition. Nothing is more frustrating than playing an instrument that will not do what you want it to. I can send and receive your instruments out for repairs from GH, but please make sure that you have it to me during homeroom on Tuesday mornings with your name and address on the case. Also, be sure to specify which repair shop your warranty (if applicable) is with. www.hornhospital.com
