Welcome to room 112.  My name is Carl Potter.  This year there are nine boys and twelve girls who are now in their first of two years within the same classroom.  First grade will provide exciting challenges and experiences such as reading new books, writing stories, working with higher numbers, and in Science studying three units titled Air and Weather; Solids and Liquids; and New Plants.  For eight days in the spring we also go to the high school pool for water safety instruction. 

There is more to school than our studies.  Making new friends and working with others are especially important social skills.  The children are encouraged to respect each other and appreciate each other’s abilities and accomplishments.
