Tips for Making and

Keeping Friends

 
  • Let kids know that you are interested in them.  

 
  • Reach out; don't always wait for someone else to make the first move.  A simple, "Hi," and a smile go a long way!

 
  • Be accepting.  Not all of your friends have to think and act like you do. Wouldn't it be boring if they did?

 
  • Don't just talk about yourself; ask questions to show you are interested in what they are saying or doing.

 
  • Be a good listener.  This means looking at people while they are talking to you and paying attention to what they are saying.

 
  • Be honest.  Tell the truth about yourself and how you feel.

 
  • Sometimes being truthful hurts someone's feelings.  Be kind when talking to and about others.  The unkind truth doesn't always have to be said.

 
  • Learn to recognize the so-called friends that you can do without.  Some friends are not really friends at all.

To have a friend -

be a friend!!
