Let kids know that you are interested in them.  

Reach out; don't always wait for someone else to make the first move.  A simple, "Hi," and a smile go a long way!

Be accepting.  Not all of your friends have to think and act like you do. Wouldn't it be boring if they did?

Don't just talk about yourself; ask questions to show you are interested in what they are saying or doing.

Be a good listener.  This means looking at people while they are talking to you and paying attention to what they are saying.

Be honest.  Tell the truth about yourself and how you feel.

Sometimes being truthful hurts someone's feelings.  Be kind when talking to and about others.  The unkind truth doesn't always have to be said.

Learn to recognize the so-called friends that you can do without.  Some friends are not really friends at all.
