Keeping parents informed and involved helps to assure student safety and improve student success. With today’s on-the-go lifestyles, it has become more difficult for schools to reach families quickly and effectively. This is why our school district has decided to implement a new system called Global Connect.
Global Connect is an essential tool for notification and communication. Within minutes of an emergency, school officials can use Global Connect to deliver a single, clear message to parents or guardians by telephone. Global Connect can also be used to notify you of school closings or delays due to inclement weather. Information will continue to be communicated through our district Web page (www.cvschools.org), CV E-News (www.cvschools.org/enews), and local radio/television stations.
Phone numbers used by Global Connect for NON-EMERGENCIES (i.e., weather, broken water pipes, no power): student’s home phone number and cell phone number of contact number one. However, if there is a closing or two-hour delay notification issued during evening hours, only the home phone number will be called.
Phone numbers used by Global Connect for EMERGENCIES (life-threatening situations): all phone numbers on record for student (i.e. student’s home number, student’s emergency contact number and the work and cell numbers of contact numbers one and two.) Work numbers with extensions cannot be used with an automated system. Be advised that emergency calls intended for parents whose places of employment utilize a receptionist/switchboard operator/automated system may not reach the parent, because the automated message is not personalized with parent’s name.
To opt out of this service you must:
1. Access www.cvschools.org/globalconnect (Forms will also be available in your child’s school office.)
2. Click on the link to the Opt Out form.
3. Print, complete, and return the form – including your signature and date – to your child’s school office.
To change your contact information, you must:
Visit the school office and request a student information update form.
If you receive a Global Connect call in error (i.e., you have no student in the district), please send an email to globalconnect@cvschools.org. Requests for changes of phone numbers may not be made by email, but must be handled through use of the student information update form (as indicated above).
