CV to offer Social Media 101 workshop for parents and students

Cumberland Valley School District will present a Social Media 101 workshop, “Welcome to My Cyber World: Examining Social Media with Parents and Students” on Wednesday, September 27. The program will take place in the Performing Arts Center at Cumberland Valley High School.

A Community Health Fair and Registration begins at 5:45 p.m. and the social media presentation begins at 6:30 p.m. Programs will run simultaneously for parents and middle school/high school students.

Parent Program: This program seeks to educate parents on the various forms of social media. We will address topics such as cyber safety, hidden apps, the dangers of online gambling or gaming, and laws surrounding social media. There will be open discussion to support parents in initiating conversations with their child and to show parents ways they can support their child with the struggles of peer pressure related to social media.

Middle/High School Student Program: During this program, the presenter will guide students toward healthy decision making in a relaxed format. Students will receive information regarding social media safety and cyber-bulling. They will touch on the laws of social media as well as the risks related to online gaming.
