Weather Reminders
Published on Nov 14, 2018 12:43

Here are some general reminders regarding inclement weather:

HOW DO YOU KNOW IF THERE IS A CHANGE IN SCHEDULE?
When bad weather conditions develop during the night, the Superintendent will assume the responsibility for making the decision as to whether schools will open at the regular time, open with a delay, or be closed. Announcements will be made via the District's telephone alert system and through the District's website: www.cvschools.org, beginning at 6:00 am. The announcements may also be made over select local television stations. Should inclement weather make it necessary to close early during the school day, announcements will be made via the same outlets.

New this year – we are offering text messaging as one of our methods of notification during inclement weather and emergencies. To receive text messages from CV, you must log into your CV SIS Parent Portal account and ensure the following:

1. You have at least one phone type listed as “Cell" (cell phone, home cell, or work cell).
2. You have the attendance box checked next to the above-mentioned cell number.

Upon completion of the above steps, you will receive an auto-generated text message from SchoolMessenger (CV’s automated telephone system) within approximately 24 hours asking you to reply “Y” to confirm the opt-in process.

2-HOUR DELAY KINDERGARTEN SCHEDULE
When a two-hour delay is called:
AM K:   Arrive at 10:45 AM, Dismiss at 12:30 PM (Arrive 2 hours late, dismiss 1 hour late)
PM K:   Arrive at 2:00 PM, Dismiss at 3:35 PM (Arrive 1 hour late, dismiss at normal time)
Ext. Day K:   Arrive at 10:45 AM, Dismiss at 2:15 PM (Arrive 2 hours late, dismiss at normal time of 2:15 PM)

EARLY DISMISSAL PLANS
Please remember to discuss inclement weather plans with your child/children so they know where they should go if school should dismiss early. As a reminder, the YMCA program, for those that attend, is not available during an early dismissal. Children will either be parent pick up or ride their “home” bus as was indicated on their emergency dismissal plan.

DRESS YOUR CHILDREN WARMLY!
Please remember to send your children to school dressed appropriately! Students will go out for recess if the temperature (with wind chill) is 17 degrees or higher.
