Next Week at Monroe:
November 13 – Skating Party - 6:00 – 8:30 pm at the Carlisle Sports Emporium! This event is for all Monroe students and their immediate family members. Admission and skates are FREE. Food and drinks must be purchased.
November 14 – Lunch menu update – On November 14 there will only be 2 lunch choices: (1) Holiday meal (Turkey and stuffing) or (2) Peanut Butter and Jelly sandwich.
Upcoming Events:
November 19 – Trimester 1 report cards are released
November 20 - Friendsgiving/PTO Meeting – If you are attending, please RSVP by November 6. You may respond by returning the bottom portion of the flier or signup here.
November 21 – All students will be dismissed at 12:00 pm. PM Kindergarten students DO NOT attend.
November 22-23-26 – NO SCHOOL - Remember all the things you are thankful for!
The Cumberland Valley School District Human Resource Department is excited to announce that they will be hosting a Guest Teacher Training Program Wednesday, November 28th and Thursday, November 29, 2018. Upon completion of the course, and with the help of the HR department, Guest Teachers will be able to apply for an emergency permit through the PA Department of Education which will allow them to be a substitute teacher in our schools! This is a great way to see if teaching is right for you and to have a positive and lasting impact on children!
To qualify as a Guest Teacher, participants must hold at least a Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university. Participants must complete both days of training in order to obtain an emergency permit.

PTO News:
Coffee/Tea K-Cup Drive – Show your appreciation for the Monroe staff by donating coffee or tea K-cups to the staff lounge! Feel free to attach a note of appreciation to your donation. Also, please check expiration dates! Coffee or tea K-cups only please. They have plenty of hot chocolate.
Club Holiday – December 14 – If your child is attending, please consider being a volunteer. If you volunteer, your child(ren) will attend for FREE! Please email Robyn or Janice to signup. Volunteers for this event must have their clearances on file with the office. If you need to obtain your clearances, click HERE.
From the Nurse:
The Giving Tree will be on display in the main lobby again this year. This is a wonderful way to help provide for families in our own school! When taking an ornament from the tree, please remember to complete the sign out sheet in the binder. Gifts are to be wrapped with the ornament attached to the outside. Gifts need to be brought to Monroe Elementary School by December 10, 2018. Thank you in advance for your generosity during the Holiday Season!
