Learning to BE a better version of ME!

STEAM Night

Our first STEAM Night was a success!  It was great to see the kids get creative, have fun, and put their plans into action at each of the stations.  The PTO would like to express our huge thanks to Cub Scout Pack 196 for donating their time and helping us run the show.  Big thanks to Kunzler for the hot dog donation, and to Bimbo Bakeries for donating all of the Entenmann's donuts.  Of course, STEAM Night wouldn't even exist without Mr. Jurcik, who put in countless hours of research, planning, and preparation.  He organized a fun night for our K-2nd Graders and we can't wait to do it again for Grades 3-5!  Mark your calendars now!  The date is set for Friday, November 9th and more information will be coming home soon.  If you attended STEAM Night on Friday and did not get a chance to fill out one of your comment cards, feel free to send your thoughts and suggestions to Sarah at [email protected].

Fall Fun

Friday, October 26th will be a day full of fun for our Sporting Hill Family.  Room parents are putting the finishing touches on their classroom party plans, and the weather is looking like fall perfection for our Fall Family Festival.  All that's missing right now is YOU!  For classroom parties, each class has its own sign up sheet.  There are still a handful of classes that are in need of volunteers, and a lot of classes that need donations.  Please check the notes at the top of the sign up sheet, as some room parents are requesting that donations be delivered earlier in the week.  Donations can be dropped off in the Sporting Hill office during the week, but please be sure to label them with the teacher's name.  We are also in need of volunteers and donations for our Fall Family Festival.  We have space for 5 more cars for Trunk or Treat, and also need volunteers to help run a few different stations.  If you are interested in helping us make this day extra special, please sign up at www.timetosignup.com/sphpto

Cub Scout Pack 196

Cub Scouts aren't just for boys anymore, and it's not too late to join!  Cub Scout Pack 196 has adopted the new Family Scouting Program, and is welcoming children from any gender to participate in Scouting.  Sporting Hill PTO is the Charter Organization for Pack 196, so our organizations work hand-in-hand on just about everything.  By adopting the new Family Scouting Program, a larger number of kids will have access to the character development and values-based leadership that Scouting promises.  The new structure allows the whole family to experience all of the great benefits that the Cub Scout Program has to offer.  Cub Scout Pack 196 is open to students in Grades K-5 and their meetings take place at Sporting Hill.  If you are interested in more information, please contact Cubmaster Chris at [email protected].  Pack 196 will also have a table set up in at our Fall Family Festival, so stop by to say hi and see what they have to offer!
