It's a Wonderful Week to be a Dragon!

ATTENTION PARENTS OF 5TH GRADERS INTERESTED IN BAND
Elementary Instrumental Rental Night takes place on Wednesday, September 12, 2018, at 6:00 PM at the High School Performing Arts Center.  Students from Hampden who are interested in band will be able to meet with our Secondary Band Directors.  The high school and middle school band directors, along with their team of helpers, will be set up in "playstations."  Students will try out only their 1st and 2nd choice of instruments based upon the paperwork completed.  Once the student has made their final choice, parents will have the opportunity to visit the on-site vendors to rent that specific instrument.  The “trying-out” of the instruments will be a very quick process — this is not a private lesson, but a quick opportunity to see if that particular instrument is appropriate for that particular student.  For students unable to attend, separate arrangements will need to be made at a later date, which means getting their instrument later than their peers.  Please do your best to attend this event.  The Instrument Rental Night consists of two parts:  Meeting and Vendor Visits.
6:00 P.M.:  Elementary Orchestra Meeting followed by Vendor Visits
6:00 P.M.:  Green Ridge, Hampden, Middlesex, Sporting Hill and Winding Creek BAND students visit their PLAYSTATIONS.
7:00 P.M.:  Elementary Band Meeting followed by Vendor Visit
If you have any questions, please contact Tracee Zygmunt, Music Department Chairman at [email protected].

INTRODUCTORY STRINGS PROGRAM FOR 4TH GRADERS
CV School District's 4th Grade String Program includes Cello, Viola and Violin.  The program is designed to introduce young people (4th graders) to the basic skills of playing a string instrument including posture, bow hold, D Scale and simple D Scale songs.  This program is not intended for students already playing a string instrument through Suzuki classes or private lessons --these students should wait until fifth grade to play in the school string program at CV.  For more details and information on instrument size, instrument rental, and lesson schedule, click here.  If your 4th grade student is interested in playing the cello, viola or violin, please send an email to Mrs. Burkett at [email protected] with your student's name, homeroom teacher and instrument he/she is interested in.

IMPORTANT: WE NEED YOUR STUDENT'S T-SHIRT SIZE!!!
Each year the Hampden PTO purchases a T-shirt for each Hampen Elementary student.  These T-shirts are worn on field trips and other designated school events.  To help us order the correct size for your student(s), please complete our Hampden T-shirt form by clicking here.  The anticipated arrival date for the shirts is early October, so please complete the online form ASAP. Thank you in advance for your help!
