It's Back to School Time!

Welcome Back Silver Spring! It was such a wonderful day! The hallways & classrooms were buzzing with excitement, happiness, & laughter.

As a reminder, the beginning of a new school year comes with new routines, new students, and new bus routes. Please be patient as this "newness" becomes routine. This typically takes about a week. Thanks for your flexibility.

We are looking forward to an amazing school year together!

Back to School Night – We are looking forward to Back to School Night on August 30, 2018. To allow families with multiple children to be able to attend at least two sessions, we are going to run our evening over two sessions beginning at 6:00 with the principal's address. You will go directly to the multi-purpose room at the beginning of this event. Session 1 in teachers' classrooms will begin promptly at 6:30 PM. Session 2 in teachers' classrooms will begin promptly at 7:10 PM. The purpose of two sessions for everyone is to allow two opportunities to meet with teachers. This is for those of you with multiple children in the building. We are respectfully asking that only parents attend the event as space will be limited and plan to arrive early as we plan to begin promptly at 6:00

Bus Information – Bus stop information can be found in one of two places – under the “Buses” tab in the CV SIS parent portal (login by clicking here) or via Infofinder on the Transportation website which can be found by clicking here

Lunch Accounts – Money can be added to student lunch accounts by submitting cash or check made payable to “CV Lunch Account” (be sure to put in an envelope clearly marked with the student name) or by setting up a lunch account at SchoolCafe.  Lunch menus are posted on the website under

Birthday Snack Information:
Our school district Wellness Committee met this summer to review the Wellness Plan for CVSD, and among things discussed were birthday snacks. The preferred snack in store bought baked goods so the label can be referenced for allergy and nutritional information- (mini cupcakes, mini muffins, or individually wrapped snacks like pretzels, popcorn, rice krispie treats, etc.)  The wellness team would also suggest non-food items such as pencils, stickers, bookmarks, erasers, etc. as an alternative to food-based treats.

Breakfast/Lunch Menu:

If you are interested in what we are serving for breakfast or lunch each day to be able to make an informed decision with your child, please check out the breakfast and lunch menu information found at the  Culinary Nutrition Services web page.

CLARIFICATION ABOUT SCHOOL SUPPLIES
Once again, the Cumberland Valley School District will be providing all school supplies for students.  Parents should be sure that their students have a backpack and if desired, a lunchbox for school.  As always, boxes of tissues and hand-sanitizers for the classrooms are always welcome and greatly appreciated.

Reminder:  There will be no school on Monday, September 3 due to the Labor Day holiday.
