Hampden Summer Update
HAMPDEN STAFF UPDATES
We are happy to announce that Mr. de La Barrera will be our Computer/Explorations teacher beginning this school year. He moves from a 5th grade position to this important role at Hampden. In addition, we have two new 5th grade teachers this year. One of our building substitutes for most of last year, Mrs. Sherri Long, officially joins our 5th grade team. She has a great deal of educational experience having taught middle school social studies for several years. Most recently, Mrs. Long had been subbing for CV and West Shore School Districts. We are also fortunate to have Ms. Nicole Brubaker join Mrs. Long and Mr. Shafter in 5th grade this year. Ms. Brubaker has 18 years of educational experience and most recently taught 5th grade at Central Dauphin School District. We are excited for the changes in our 5th grade team and anticipate a great year for all of our 5th grade students.
KINDERGARTEN & NEW FAMILIES OPEN HOUSE -- AUGUST 23
Our Open House for Kindergarten students and families new to Hampden is scheduled for Thursday August 23 at the following times:
5:00 PM: AM & Extended Day Kindergarten Open House
6:15 PM: PM Kindergarten Open House
7:30 PM: New Family Open House
OPEN HOUSE & PTO MINGLE -- AUGUST 24
Our Open House for all students (except Kindergarten) will be held on August 24, 2:45 - 3:30 PM. Immediately after, there will be a PTO Mingle on the playground 3:30 - 5:00 PM.
HAMPDEN BACK TO SCHOOL NIGHT -- AUGUST 30
Hampden Elementary's Back to School Night will be held on Thursday, August 30 at the following times:
6:00 PM -- Grades 1 & 2
7:00 PM -- Grades 3, 4 & 5
Please note that our Back to School Night is for PARENTS ONLY. Thank you in advance for your understanding and cooperation!
CORRECTION
In our last ENews, we announced that Elaine Daly would be joining Hampden Elementary as our new Certified School Nurse. Mrs. Daly's last name was spelled incorrectly. We apologize for this error.
FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL
The first school day for all Cumberland Valley schools for the 2018-2019 academic year is Monday, August 27. To view the academic calendar that is posted on the CV website, click here.
