Sprint for
Silver Spring is almost here! Help us celebrate by participating in Spirit
Week:
Such a busy time of
year! Lots of information to share:
Sprint- Sprint for
Silver Spring is this Friday, April 6th. As of now, we are not sure if the weather
is going to cooperate. Please continue to check e-mail and/or Facebook for any
weather-related changes that may need to be made. Morning helpers are asked to
arrive by 9:00 am and afternoon helpers are asked to arrive by 1:30 pm. Please
note that all visitors for Sprint, including spectators, will need a badge. If
you are coming to cheer for your child/ren, please use the following link to

If you ordered Sprint
t-shirts, they will be sent home with students on Thursday. Class colors for
Friday are:
*Tuesday, 4/3
–“Hats for Fitness”
*Wednesday, 4/4
–“School Spirit Day” (wear your CV or Silver Spring shirt or wear red)
*Thursday, 4/5
–“Crazy Socks Day”
*Friday, 4/6
-Sprint!!! “Color Me Fit” (wear your Sprint t-shirt or your grade’s assigned
color):

PSSA Bags- Our PTO puts
together snack bags for students in grades 3-5 for the first day of
testing. We will be assembling the bags
tomorrow (Wednesday, April 4th) at 4:00pm in the library if anyone is
interested in helping us.
Hershey
Park Tickets -
They have arrived! We will have a parent
pick up time for tickets on Thursday, April 5th from 3:30-5:30 pm in the school
lobby. Please note that we will not be
sending tickets home with students as we ask for parents to sign for them. If you are unable to pick up your tickets on
Thursday afternoon, they will be available in the office during school hours.
Calling all Supergirls...Put
on your capes over your dresses and come and enjoy a date night with your Dad,
Grandfather, Uncle, or Family Friend! Date night includes food, dancing and
games!

PURPLE UP! FOR MILITARY KIDS
Once again, we will be honoring April as the Month of the Military
Child here at Silver Spring On Monday, April 9 we are asking all students and
staff to wear purple in celebration of our military children and their families
and to honor the sacrifices they
make for our nation!

PSSA Dates
Reminder
that PSSA testing is right around the corner. If your child is in 3rd, 4th, or
5th grade, the annual PSSA Parent Letter came home a few weeks ago which gives
an overview of testing dates and logistics, participation requirements, and
electronic device regulations.
We
will be asking all students to wear their “Problem Solvers” T-Shirts on
Tuesday, April 10 to kick off the start of our PSSA testing window.
Please take note
of the PSSA Testing dates. Educational trips for 3rd - 5th graders will not be
approved for these dates:
Grades 3rd -
5th
ELA
Testing Dates: April 10, 11 & 12
Math
Testing Dates: April 17 & 18
Grade 4
Science
Testing Dates: April 24 & 25
“Take Your Child to Work Day": Thursday,
April 26, 2018
Families must
complete an Educational Trip Form to excuse the day. This assumes the student
has the educational trip days available. Students in 4th grade must complete
their Science PSSA testing by this day.
