Puerto Rico

• Ms. Shafnisky's class is organizing a school-wide impact project.  We have many students with family in Puerto Rico.  One of Ms. Shafnisky's students will be traveling to Puerto Rico to help out friends and family.  Her family in Puerto Rico was impacted by Hurricane Maria in September and her cousins have been out of school for about four months.  Their school is without many essential school supplies.  Ms. Shafnisky's class has decided that they would like to help.  Therefore, as a school, we will be collecting new school supplies to donate to Escuela Angelica Gomez Betancourt, in Islote Arecibo, PR.  Our hope is that we are able to send at least one extra large box of new school supplies to Puerto Rico next month.  For more information, contact [email protected].

Furry Friends Network

• Emma and a few of her 5th grade friends have organized a drive for Furry Friends Network, a local non-profit adoption organization places pets in foster homes until they are adopted.  Until January 20th, the girls are asking that we bring in a item to donate to Furry Friends.  Here are some ideas:

CV Mini-mini-THON at Sporting Hill
On Friday, February 2, Sporting Hill students will be participating in our third Mini-mini-THON. Members of CV Mini-THON from the high school are excited to lead the students through a variety of activities- dancing, crafts, and a skit. Prizes will be awarded throughout the day for enthusiasm and spirit! At the end of the day, students will attend an assembly to celebrate their fundraising efforts.  If you would like to donate to CV Mini-THON, your child may bring in money to school anytime including the last day the February 2nd.  A flyer will be coming home today in your child's backpack.  Thank you for your continued support.

2018-19 Sporting Hill Elementary Kindergarten Registration
Sporting Hill Elementary School is looking for kindergarten students for the 2018-19 school year. Students need to turn 5 years old on, or before September 1, 2018. Too Sick for School?
On Friday, January 12 we sent home many students because they had a fever and/or were vomiting.  Is your child too sick for school?Here are are a few questions to consider:
Is your child running a fever?  If your child is running a fever over 100F, it is a sign they may be ill and should stay home.  Your child should not return to school until at least 24 hours fever free, without fever-reducing medication.
Is your child contagious?  If your child is sick with an illness that may be contagious, they should be kept home from school.  This will prevent them from spreading their illness to their classmates, or worse, having it passed right back!
