Welcome Back to another Awesome week at Silver Spring!

National Award Winning Author Judy Young is coming to Silver Spring!!
On October 25, 2017, Judy Young will be holding assemblies with each of our grade levels as well as promoting writing as a lifelong activity.  Judy offers signed copies of books to those who would like to place a book order in advance.  The order forms for books went home 10-10-17 in backpacks.

Students who want to pre-order to have the book in time for author autographs will need to have their order form and payment returned by the end of the day TODAY (October 16). Checks may be made out to Judy Young and please include your phone number on your check. There is also an option to order online at www.judyyoungpoetry.com

Books can still be ordered after that time, but may not arrive until after the author's visit on Wednesday, October 25.

FALL IS UPON US AND WEATHER WILL BE CHANGING SOON ……

Please read the following to ensure that your child will be able to go outside for recess and enjoy the crisp clean air.

Please remember to dress your child(ren) appropriately for the fall/winter months. The temperature will be getting colder and students will continue to be going outside for recess when the weather permits.  On days when the temperature is below
50°, students will be permitted to go outside as long as they are wearing a coat/jacket and pants.  Student who are not dressed appropriately will be sent to the office with a book to read.

What is a coat or jacket?  A coat or jacket is an article of clothing worn only to go outside.  It can’t be the sweatshirt a student is wearing all day in school.
For example: If a student wears a sweatshirt and wears another sweatshirt over it, this would be defined as a coat or a jacket.

***We would also ask that students not change “in and out” of sweatpants throughout the day.  What the students wear to school is what should be worn for the day.
