Steve Kirkpatrick is the Principal for Cumberland Valley High School.

Mr. Kirkpatrick earned his Bachelors of Science in Education in 1992 from Shippensburg University and soon after was an English teacher at Cumberland Valley High School.  While teaching, he also coached varsity football, varsity softball and middle school basketball.

After earning his Masters in Education Administration, also from Shippensburg, he became an assistant principal working at each grade level of the high school.  Mr. Kirkpatrick was the Upper House Principal since the 2005-06 school year with a year’s hiatus in 2007-08 while he worked as an intern in the district office.  This year he begins his tenure as the building principal.  Mr. Kirkpatrick has also earned his Superintendent’s Letter of Eligibility.

Mr. Kirkpatrick is married to Rebecca (Tritt) Kirkpatrick, and they have four children.

Welcome to Cumberland Valley High School’s web site.  We hope this site provides you with the information that you are looking for whether you are just browsing or you are trying to learn more about our school.

Cumberland Valley High School boasts a longstanding tradition of excellence.  At the core of that tradition is a caring and committed teaching staff that provides many opportunities for student learning and success.  It continues to be our challenge to make high school as meaningful as possible to the 21st century student.  Our goal is to ensure that all of our diverse student population is challenged to reach its fullest potential by offering a rigorous academic environment coupled with any support that may be essential for their success.

We also feel strongly that getting students involved in something beyond the regular school day is integral to student success.  One of the benefits of being such a large high school is the number of opportunities we can offer for students to get involved.  Our student clubs and organizations, performing arts groups and athletic teams offer students the chance to be a part of something positive and rewarding.  Talk to your guidance counselor about how your child can participate.

The CVHS family, comprised of teachers, administrators and support staff, welcome you to participate in your child’s education.   The success of our students in both academics and extracurricular activities is remarkable but it will only reach its fullest potential when we all work together.  Please join us in making your child’s high school experience a meaningful and rewarding one.
