11/20/18 - Message from the Superintendent
Posted on 11/20/2018
The following was shared via automated telephone call with Good Hope Middle School families.

Attention Good Hope Middle School parents/guardians:

(November 20, 2018) - Safety of our students and staff is of paramount priority. Unfortunately, we are writing to make you aware that late last night administration was notified that a threat to Good Hope Middle School was posted on a social media account. The threat indicated that something may occur at the school today. The post has since been taken down. As is our practice, Hampden Township Police and the District’s Director of Student and Public Safety immediately began an investigation. While the investigation is ongoing, we have received no information to substantiate the threat.

While we know the timing of today’s notification isn’t ideal, we sincerely had no information to share late last night. Further, as is consistent with past practice, you are receiving this message as we want to make you aware of all of the information that we know at this time. We also want to inform you that Hampden Township Police Department has ensured an increased presence in and around the Good Hope campus today, November 20, 2018.

As we have in the past, we strongly encourage parents/guardians to use this as another opportunity to remind students about the power of words and the consequences associated with making threats, even when those threats are meant as a joke and when the student has no intentions of, or capabilities to, follow through with those words. Additionally, we can assure you that any student found responsible for making threats of violence will face consequences as allowable by both District policy and law.

Rest assured, safety is our first priority, today and always.
