Cumberland Valley School District is proud to partner with Ride on, Peyton - The Peyton Walker Foundation and Pinnacle Health Cardiovascular Unit to offer this very important heart screening. The screening will take place in the Dome Gymnasium at CV High School (6746 Carlisle Pike | Mechanicsburg, PA 17050). Please don't delay in having your child screened!

The Heart Screening Clinic is open to students in the Central PA region, 12 to 19 years old, who are not currently under the care of a cardiologist. Echocardiograms will also be offered that day on site, free of charge, for those students who are identified as needing additional testing.

Appointments are on a first come, first served basis.

The Peyton Walker Foundation was established in honor of Peyton Walker, a 2012 Trinity High School graduate who passed away unexpectedly from sudden cardiac arrest at the young age of 19. The Foundation is offering these routine Heart Screening Clinics at no cost for students as a means of early detection for heart-related issues.

Some facts about Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA)
- SCA is the #1 killer of student athletes.
- SCA is the #2 medical cause of death in youth under 25.
- SCA is the leading cause of death on school campuses.
- Every three days, a student dies from SCA.
- Some warning symptoms of SCA include dizziness, fainting, shortness of breath or chest pain.
- The first symptom of SCA is often sudden death.
- One out of every 100 students screened is found to have a previously undetected heart condition.
