General Information

Cross Country is a varsity sport for girls and boys and is contested during the fall sport season. At high school all races are 5,000m on a variety of terrain but mostly grass. Optional practices are available throughout the summer with the first official day of practice towards the middle of August. All ability levels need to begin running during the summer. Summer running is necessary to build the base fitness level for competition, training and help prevent common injuries. All interested runners should be able to run 3 miles without stopping, complete 10 pushups and 50 crunches. These minimums are what we believe are necessary to set you up for a successful start to your cross country season. Throughout the season every runner will be able to compete at all meets including the Mid-Penn Championships. The top 7 runners and one alternate are eligible to advance to the post-season which includes Districts and States. In the beginning of June, information for the upcoming season will be available.
